Your child’s ‘wider circle of care’

By December 19, 2015February 7th, 2017

How a ‘Supportive Wider Circle of Care’ can further enhance your child’s development.

We’ve considered, in previous issues, how ‘Commitment to Consistent Therapy’ and ‘Variation in Environment and Experiences’ are so important for your child’s continual progress and development.

Imagine. If everyone coming into contact with your child was also contributing in some way to your child’s learning, how much faster your child could be progressing!

Along with the hands-on support I provide your child during their therapy session, their parents also receive Home Activity Programs so that they can continue to support their child in-between sessions.

It’s so beneficial to your child if all their care providers, including other close family members, relatives, and in-home caretakers can also participate in supporting your child with these activities.

If your child is attending school and receives additional support from an Education Assistant (EA), it would also be very helpful to communicate your child’s Therapy Programs with their EA so that they too can be aware of how best to support your child with their activities.

It’s also imperative that as a parent, you communicate with your child’s team of therapists with regard to your child’s therapy goals.

This is especially important when there are different points of view with regard to the use of supportive devices such as orthotics, seating devices, standers and walkers. I know this is a lot to consider but these people become part of the wider team supporting your child.

When surrounded by a ‘Supportive Wider Circle of Care’ your child is more likely to receive the consistent support that can further enhance and accelerate their growth and continued progress.

Your child will also be much happier as a result!

Even Santa has a team of ‘helpers’ so that he can
put a smile on every children’s face.

Wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas!
